CAŅON CITY - Attorney John McDermott has just returned from a continuing education conference entitled "Sophisticated Estate Planning Strategies for the Advanced Practitioner in Colorado," held at the Double Tree Conference Center in Denver.
Current topics covered at the institute focused on the proper selection of a trustee, and the importance of appointing someone of proper legal status and technical competency.
Other topics included how to take maximum advantage of family limited partnership, how to best leverage the generation skipping tax exemption, and the use of life insurance in estate planning.
"I try to attend as many of these conferences as possible," McDermott said.
"It is of critical importance to our practice that we stay current in all areas of the law. This is especially true in the rapidly changing area of tax and estate planning, and the extreme impact these changes have on our clients."
