John A. McDermott serves the firm's business and commercial clients in various ways.  Mr. McDermott has been forming corporations, and more recently limited liability companies (LLCs), and advising businesses generally since arriving in Canon City in 1973.  Previous to that, John received the "American Jurisprudence Book Award" for receiving the highest grade in the University of Florida law school's Business Organizations course.

The firm can review and draft contracts, help form and organize corporations, LLCs, and partnerships, and help with the purchase or sale of a business.  Also, the firm has extensive experience with real estate holdings of the firm's business clients.

In addition to other everyday business concerns, the McDermott Law Firm regularly consults with businesses regarding employment law issues.  With a particular expertise in employment law issues, the firm can draft personnel policies tailored to a specific business, provide human resource counseling, and assist with potential employment law-related complaints against employers.
