John McDermott has just returned from an in depth look at how to deal with subrogated interests following serious automobile accidents.
"Subrogation is the right of one's own health care provider to claim part of a personal injury recovery following an automobile accident," said McDermott.
"With the reduction in automobile insurance coverage by the General Assembly last year this has become an exceedingly important topic," he added.
The topics covered at the seminar included the right of a worker's compensation insurer, as well as Medicare and Medicaid, to claim a slice of an injured party's recovery. The impact of ERISA on the subrogation rights of health care and major medical insurers was explored in detail.
John McDermott is the senior attorney practicing with the McDermott Law Firm at 303 North Seventh Street in Caņon City. For more information on personal injury law, and the other areas of law in which the firm practices, individuals may access the firm's website at: www.mcdermottlawfirm.com.
